I was lucky to be amongst the four fashion-blogs selected as nominees for Egypt’s first ever annual fashion awards and even more lucky to actually be the winner! 🙂 JUMIA Chic, the fashion blog created by Jumia Egypt, revealed the long-awaited Jumia Chic Asfour Awards 2015 winners during an extravagant event held at the Four Seasons Giza in Cairo. The event witnessed 11 awards presented to 11 young Egyptian talents. The categories were best fashion-blog, best photographer, best fashion designer, best make-up artist, and many more.
Susan Sabet, Pashion magazine’s publisher and editor-in-chief along with the team at Jumia Chic’s editorial section had carefully selected the 32 nominees after much evaluation. Voting started on the 24th of January online up until a few days before the event.
“An award like the Jumia Chic Asfour Awards motivates and generates attention towards the nominees and the industry in Egypt and announcing the winners today is a phenomenal display of talent in the fashion industry. The Jumia Chic Asfour Awards gives us the chance to praise not only the winners but to celebrate all of the individuals that contribute to the incredible achievements in the fashion industry” said Susan Sabet, Pashion Magazine’s Publisher and Editor in Chief.
I strongly loved seeing the fashion industry grow at this fast rate over the past few years in Egypt. I still remember the first day I started my blog there was only one blog I knew of in Egypt which was Chanel Cashmere Cupcakes and Crayons run by my dear friend Noha Youssef. Many people were not even familiar with the word blog itself. Today there are many new blogs and thousands of young Egyptians on social media accounts posting their daily fashion-tips and outfits. It’s so much fun to see us all growing and interacting together and becoming more international.
I was wearing this gorgeous Alice and Olivia dress with embroidery on it which I styled with my new favorite Valentino headpiece which you will be seeing a lot of because I’m kind of obsessed with it and wearing it to just one event wasn’t enough!
